How does EMP Safe storage work?

Once you subscribe, the system will create a dedicated online storage area for you.

You can use this to store data, and EMP Safe will ensure this is backed up globally for redundancy but also nightly in an EMP Safe Area. We use triple Faraday cages in remote locations (+50km from where we store your data globally).

You can use this storage in several ways:

1. You can create a local drive on your Windows Computer, e.g. z:\
2. You can use tools like Azure Storage Explorer to view/download your data.

For VPN connections / IP restrictions and additional privacy, contact us for a quote.

Then use your storage area to backup essential data, software, license keys you have identified would be required during an EMP outage.

Security

By default, your storage device is locked down by IP range (which you provide). You can add additional IP addresses. VPN and VPN setup and access is by consultation only at this stage while we work on a more scalable solution.

Data is encrypted at rest using EMP Safe managed keys. For additional security, you can encrypt or password-protect your data before saving it.

What if an EMP event happens, how will I access my data.

At the time most organisations realise that they are facing complete and destructive data loss (and the entire city is facing no electricity or communications for the foreseeable future), you will at least have some hope. By choosing EMP Safe, your data is waiting for you. You only have to contact us and verify your account, and we can organise the best way to get your data to you (mail / post / cloud / SFTP). If this is just a case where you need to access your backup data, you can reset your password to access your private storage data keys.

Privacy

Your data is not accessible to our operations staff, they can run reports to verify that the data stored matches the data in your storage area, but they cannot open individual files or access any of your data.

Additional Protection

Data stored in Emp Safe also caters for prevention against malware and ransomware attacks, where you or your organisation are left without access to your data or services, this provides an additional data storage area to help you resume services faster without having to pay.
